Title of work: PM2.5

Artist Statement:

PM2.5 (particulate matter 2.5) is coming! Trace elements are the deadliest form of air pollution. They adversely affect human health, especially children. According to researches, the atmospheric environment with particle concentration levels of less than 2.5 micrometers directly affects human health.

Trace elements are quite complicated, but if you put them under a microscope, you will find out they are not as ugly as imagined. It would be a beautiful picture made of a wide variety of dust in the atmosphere. Maybe it’s from an artist’s point of view; the polluted city creates beautiful scenery of impressionism. As an artist, the true feeling is that we human beings should not think about ourselves only when PM2.5 comes, we should also care about the beautiful city. Finding out the ways to solve the problems of air pollution as soon as possible is the only method to survive with the environment.

Materials: commercial cottons, dyed fabrics, woolen yarn, metallic thread

Techniques: 100% hand-stitched, appliqué, pieced, three-layer quilted. The wool is transplanted into fabrics.
