Viewpoints 9 (Cycle 5) Challenge 5

Title of work: Forest Fires

Theme: Geology

Artist Statement:

Forests are destroyed due to anthropogenic factors and global warming. Originally forests can regulate the greenhouse effect, however, deforestation and forest fires make carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere and forest fires also accelerate carbon emissions. This is a human nightmare. Half of this work is a land that has been burned to ash, and the other half are burning mountains. I pray with needle and thread sadly.

As a nature lover, I feel agitated seeing the forest-fire scenes. I could not describe the sadness in my heart. Not only human beings lost their homes but also all the creatures lived in the forests. In the past, forest fires were less frequent, and there was sufficient time for forest trees to recover. However, in recent years, there have been frequent fires, and each time is huge and serious. The speed of ecological restoration cannot catch up with destruction. It is possible that the species will be extinct in the future. Wish our Mother Nature restore her vitality.

The whole mountain was burned black, a scene of disaster. It gives me an extraordinary feel sewing the unfortunate sight. Although my heart is in turmoil and my mood is ups and downs, I feel a sense of serenity; just like quietly waiting for God's mercy and good news and regaining new life. God bless the wildfire in northern California! Thank you, Sue Dennis, for the prompt.
