Finding our dreams in the “Dream Garden”, what progress have you made this week?

Wow! The whole class has completed the color and background design.

We are working effectively this semester!

Although we have seen the pictures drew by classmates on Facebook, it is rather beautiful seeing the actual design in the class! 

We enjoy seeing a variety of creative backgrounds and colorful flowers!

Online discussion is indeed a good teaching-learning method. 

Sharing experience with each other is also a good way of making improvements!

We will focus on the Color Wheel this semester.

Please help each other!

Students will take turns to discuss their works with me!

I will offer suggestions based on the skills and materials used by each student. 

Please note that the order process of sewing is a key point of the Dream Garden project!

After today's class, I believe many of you are ready to start sewing!

Dream Garden is the creative project for this semester.

What kind of work is it?

I use PowerPoint and text to explain the details.

Please also refer to the handouts and make sure you fully understand!

Some questions are raised from the guidelines.

It is always important to clear the doubts before starting the project! 

The purpose of the project is the use of color.

How to turn colors into fabrics?

A group of great listeners! 

I take the work that I created more than 20 years ago as an example to explain the difference between color matching and fabric matching!

Now it's time for the tradition of our class, Fabric Exchange! 

All of us have carefully selected fabrics for exchanging!

Some even prepare special gifts!

The room is filled with laughter!

What are the tones of your fabrics?

What about applying them on the work?

Isn't it wonderful to collect a variety of fabrics without spending a lot of money?

Time really flies!

It is the last class of this semester!

Hanging the “Deformed Curves” creative project on the wall for the last time, it is surprising to find that nearly half of the students have completed quilting!

These works are just like super stars after the quilting is finished.

They are stunning!

It is hard to believe that we only spent 6 classes to complete the works!

Students have tried the whole bag of tricks this time and used techniques that they have never tried before to improve their creative skills!

It has been 2 weeks since our last class…

Though everyone has different progress, we are all heading to the direction of completion!

29 works with 29 themes.

Isn't it exciting to have them exhibited someday! 

Seeing the works being created from scratch is very emotional!

Did you imagine how beautiful your work could be when it was drafted?

It feels like college students when discussing the project with teacher one by one.

Students are encouraged to "be themselves" in our class to create in their own way!

It is important to teach students in accordance with their aptitude!

Hope all the works can be successfully completed!

Students have fun seeing each other's work before the class!

This technique is wonderful…, and this piece of fabric is beautiful…

Hmm, looks like we have got some talented quilters in the class!

It is also a good time for new students to ask senior classmates for help!

It feels like we have 29 teachers in the class! 

There is only one month left before the photo shoot on June 6.

Thanks to the unique cloud classroom, the project of this semester, Deformed Curves, has been very efficient!

Some start drawing, some are working on fabric choosing, and some start sewing…

No matter what the progress is, students are bringing their works to the class today!

I have been collecting the learning portfolios for the students.

Look at what you have done and achieved! 

Every step in the learning process is indispensable!

And now it is time for tutorial!

After countless back and forth online discussion, the face-to-face class today is meaningful! 

29 people and 29 works.

Every work is different!

Suggestions are given depending on students' characteristics and abilities!

Students enjoy seeing others' works while waiting for individual guidance on the stage!

It is also a perfect timing for group discussion or asking senior classmates for help!

We are going to take pictures of your works on June 6.

Please at least complete the top cloth before then. Good luck!

The curriculum of this semester is very much different from the past.

Although we don't meet every week, the online class is always open for you!

It had been fun to see the photos and messages that you posted on Facebook and blog over the last 2 weeks.

Sketching, coloring, fabric matching…

It is hard to imagine that all these steps can be done using textual description, isn't it?

No pain, no gain.

Those countless drafts are your learning portfolio!

Today, students are asked to bring their drafts to the class!

Everyone's subject and progress are different.

Just be yourself!

And now it's time for me to offer my suggestions one by one!

Thanks to the back and forth online discussion, we are able to find out the key points in just 5 minutes!

Some problems are hard to describe and comprehend via text, so it is time for hands-on demonstration!

The new learning method really keeps everyone motivated every day!

Please keep posting your photos and messages online before next class!

Today is the “Fabric Exchange” of this semester. So excited!

It has been 2 weeks since our last class.

Has your Happy Sea become more beautiful?

Let’s start the class with troubleshooting!

I demonstrate the techniques of piecing, hollowing and running stitches.

Since it is the last semester of our 3-credit course, we have to decide on dealing with our remaining class fund!

After voting, the class decides to donate the full amount of money to TAQS to support art quilting in Taiwan!

Can’t believe that it is the second-last class.

A brand new course will start next semester. 

It will be a 1-credit course.

Due to the limited class hour, our blog is becoming much more essential for self-study!

Some students’ ask about how to make the work looked three-dimensional.

I also explain the details in the class!

Finally, it’s time for the long-awaited Happy Sea!

Students work together to hang the huge work on the wall! 

We are reluctant to take it down every time!

Just a few class left in this semester… 

Have you read the curriculum that I prepared at the beginning of this semester and followed the schedule?

Anyway, let's get back to our current project.

Students take out their quilting designs nervously… 

Let's put the pictures on the wall and take a look at the quilting designs for the sea!

The 4 walls of the classroom are perfectly used!

What is the difference between your quilting design and other classmates'?

I check the pictures carefully one by one and point out the problems. 

I even draw some of the lines!

The quilting design that I prepared last week had clearly demonstrated the quilting lines for different sections! 

How to make the rocks look three-dimensional?

What is the difference between art quilting and traditional quilting? 

After the discussion, we put the pieces of HappySea on the wall! 

This is the biggest project we have ever had.

Students need to work together to hang it on the wall.

Wow! I wish I could stay here the whole night and enjoy the work!

Are the completed quilt tops in accordance with the original design?

Let's take out the photos and check again!

We don't have class next Tuesday, December 13.

The class on December 20 will be the second reunion of Happy Sea. Please also bring the “Stupid Birds, Smart Pigeon” to the class for photo shooting!
